DONG Energy Generation has just completed the second of two auctions taking place in November. On 30 November two products were sold:

3-months' product
225 MW delivered in the first quarter of 2007 was purchased by 5 companies. At the auction, an option price of 24.32 EUR/MWh (equivalent to a total option price of 52,503 EUR/MW for the quarter or 17501 EUR/MW per month) was determined for the right to use the capacity in first quarter 2007.

Owners of 3-months' virtual power plant capacity pay an additional set price of 20.63 EUR/MWh when electricity is supplied.

36-months' product
100 MW delivered in the period 2007-2009 was purchased by 5 companies. At the auction, an option price of 24.09 EUR/MWh (equivalent to a total option price of 633,636 EUR/MW for the three year period or 17601 EUR/MW per month) was determined for the right to use the capacity in the period 2007-2009.

Owners of 36-months' virtual power plant capacity pay an additional set price of 21.85 EUR/MWh when electricity is supplied.

In cooperation with the Danish Competition Authority DONG Energy Generation has appointed Deloitte as Trustee to ensure the smooth operation of the auction. The auction itself takes place on the internet through the Nordic Power Exchange, Nord Pool, in Oslo. The details of the bidders are kept confidential to each other and from DONG Energy Generation.

The next auction
The next auction will take place in late February 2007. This auction will involve 225 MW delivered as a 3-months' product.
