Newsletter 30 August 2011 - Successful VPP auction
DONG Energy Power has just completed the third of four auctions taking place in 2011 where two products were successfully sold:
3-months' product
100 MW delivered in the fourth quarter of 2011 was purchased by 4 companies. In the auction, an option price of 21.12 EUR/MWh (equivalent to a Total Option Price of 46,665 EUR/MW) was determined for the right to use the capacity in the fourth quarter 2011.
Owners of 3-months' Virtual Power Plant Capacity pay an additional set price of 37.65 EUR/MWh when electricity is supplied.
3-year product
100 MW delivered in the years 20112-2014 was purchased by 6 companies. In the auction, an option price of 13.72 EUR/MWh (equivalent to a Total Option Price of 360,972 EUR/MW) was determined for the right to use the capacity in the years 2012-2014.
Owners of 3-years Virtual Power Plant Capacity pay an additional set price of 40.47 EUR/MWh when electricity is supplied.
Next auction
The next auction is scheduled for 22 November 2011 where 300 MW is offered for supply. The 300 MW will be supplied in two products. The first product is 200 MW defined by a duration of 1 year, starting 1 January 2012. The second product is 100 MW defined by a duration of 3 months, starting 1 January 2012.
In cooperation with the Danish Competition Authority, DONG Energy Power has appointed Deloitte as Trustee to ensure the smooth operation of the auction. The auction itself takes place on the internet through the Nordic Power Exchange, NASDAQ OMX, in Oslo. The details of the bidders are kept confidential thus information is not made available or disclosed to the individual bidders or DONG Energy Power.
